How to handle Windows XP issues?
I understand Microsoft stopped supporting Window XP upgrades and support. But our POS system just works on XP. Any way out to debug issues?
Debugging issues will be hard. But if you still insist on using the system, ensure the following things:
- Use a powerful Internet security (not only antivirus) it might be hard finding one though since companies stopped supporting windows XP. You will also need atleast 4GB RAM to run it properly, which is not possible, since you most probably have the the 32bit version that doesn’t supports more than 3GB RAM.
- Close down all common ports with the firewall.
- Never install anything outside of a product’s official website and do not install non trusted apps.
- Never not use anyone’s USB drive.
- Keep an eye on exploits and do proper changes if you want to be secure.
