The advantages of pro are: faster responses, higher hourly max, more uptime (in theory).

It does say "Priority access to new features", but I haven't seen any yet.

I am a college student, but I do use it for writing because no one else could read my dyslexic mess. Chat GPT really structures my tales and even adds its own thoughts, and I can admit that sometimes those additions are appreciated.
Some schools banned Chat GPT.
