Yeah, I can help with that! First, make sure you back up anything important because a factory reset will erase everything on your device.Kai wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 4:56 am Anyone know how to factory reset an HP Stream 14? My laptop's been acting up, and I think I need a fresh start.
ok I’ll make sure to save my stuff. What’s the next step?Maverick wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 5:00 amYeah, I can help with that! Turn off the laptop completely, and then turn it back on. Right when you see the HP logo, press F11 repeatedly. This will open the Recovery Manager.Kai wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 5:03 amok I’ll make sure to save my stuff. What’s the next step?Maverick wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 5:00 amYeah, I can help with that! I see that option. I’ll choose "Remove everything." Do I need to do anything else?Maverick wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 5:07 amTurn off the laptop completely, and then turn it back on. Right when you see the HP logo, press F11 repeatedly. This will open the Recovery Manager.
Once you’re in the Recovery Manager, you’ll see a couple of options. Choose Troubleshoot, then select Reset this PC. After that, you’ll have two choices: “Keep my files” or “Remove everything.” Since you want a full factory reset, choose Remove everything.
After that, it’ll ask if you want to just remove your files or fully clean the drive. If you want to be sure everything is wiped, select Fully clean the drive, but it’ll take longer.Kai wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 5:09 amI see that option. I’ll choose "Remove everything." Got it. I’ll choose that for a fresh start. How long does it take?Maverick wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 5:11 amAfter that, it’ll ask if you want to just remove your files or fully clean the drive. It could take anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the speed of your laptop and the option you choose. Just let it do its thing, and it’ll restart automatically once the reset is complete.Kai wrote: Tue Mar 11, 2025 5:13 amGot it. I’ll choose that for a fresh start.
