Why do people hold their bitcoins

It's because they are aware that the price will increase and become more costly in the future. According to what I've seen in the market, waiting patiently will pay off over the next years. Exactly! Unlike regular money, which governments can print more of, Bitcoin is capped at 21 million coins. That scarcity makes people believe it will become more valuable.
