Upgrading graphics card for Asus A7v333 board

Am thinking of upgrading my graphics card in order to play some advance games. My machine is old. Can I fit it Radeon 9800 or later without experiencing compatibility issues or something like that? How do you determine the appropriate Mb replacement?

Sure, it will work, but I advice replacing the entire machine with a newer version. Current games are demanding. Graphics card upgrade only is not enough to get things running.
